Women's Basketball Begins Final Week With BYU

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After the cancelation of Saturday's season finale, Santa Clara women's basketball will now finish WCC play against BYU Thursday night at 6 p.m. There will be a pregame ceremony for seniors Ashlyn Herlihy and Merle Wiehl.

Per Santa Clara County guidelines, fans are not permitted in Leavey Center.

Last week, the Broncos won at LMU on Tuesday but fell at San Francisco Saturday to close out the conference road slate.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 2-20 all-time against BYU with the first meeting coming in 1998-99. The Cougars won the meeting in Provo in January.

THE BRONCOS

Santa Clara (13-9, 9-7 WCC) enters the final week scoring 64.8 points per game on 41.2-percent shooting from the field and a 33.3-percent mark from downtown.

Lindsey VanAllen leads the team in scoring with 12.1 ppg while adding 4.0 rebounds per game. Ashlyn Herlihy leads the team in rebound with 6.6 pg and scores 11.5 ppg. Merle Wiehl's 33 3-pointers are tops on the team and she scores 10.5 ppg to go with 5.1 rpg. Ashlee Maldonado dishes out a team best 3.5 assists per game and scores 6.0 ppg.

THE COUGARS
BYU (16-3, 12-2 WCC) is outscoring its opponents by an average of 69.9-58.6 this season. The Cougars shoot 45.2-percent from the field and 34.2-percent from beyond the arc.

Shaylee Gonzales leads the team with 18.1 ppg, 3.9 apg, and 2.5 steals per game. Paisley Harding had knocked down 39 3-pointers to tie with Lauren Gustin for the team lead and is scoring 13.6 ppg. Gustin scores 12.3 ppg with a team best 12.9 rpg.
