Women's Basketball Hosts LMU Saturday in Santa Cruz

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball finally gets to play a home game on Saturday.

The Broncos host LMU at 6 p.m. at Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz. Due to Santa Cruz County guidelines, spectators will not be permitted inside the venue.

The Broncos opened West Coast Conference play with a 51-49 win at San Diego on Monday but fell at BYU 76-50 Wednesday.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 49-28 all-time against LMU with the first meeting coming in 1984-85. Last season both teams won on their home floors.

THE BRONCOS

Santa Clara (5-3, 1-1 WCC) has allowed more than 60 points just twice this season and averages surrendering 57.5 ppg. On the offensive side, the Broncos are scoring 60.5 ppg on 39.1-percent shooting from the field and 31.8-percent from downtown.

Lindsey VanAllen leads the team with 11.4 ppg and adds 4.6 rebounds per game. The junior also leads in 3-pointers made (11) and free throws made (22) and attempted (30). Ashlyn Herlihy scores 11.3 ppg and leads with 6.0 rpg. Her 86.9-percent mark from the charity stripe is tops on the roster. Lexie Pritchard adds 8.1 ppg and Ashlee Maldonado dishes out a team high 3.9 assists per game.

THE LIONS
LMU (1-6, 0-2 WCC) is scoring 57.3 ppg on 40.8-percent shooting from the field and 26.5-percent from beyond the arc. Defensively, the Lions allow 69.7 ppg while opponents are shooting 38.3-percent from the floor and 31.6-percent from downtown.

A trio of scorers leads the team's offense. Ariel Johnson is scoring a team best 11.5 ppg, just ahead of Ciera Ellington's 11.4 and Khari Clark's 11.0. Clark is tied with Meghan Mandel, who scores 7.3 ppg, for the team lead with 7.4 rpg and Johnson and Ellington add 5.0 and 4.9 rpg respectively.
