Choi Notches Top-10 Finish At USF Intercollegiate

SAN FRANCISCO - Santa Clara women's golfer Claire Choi got her 2022 fall season started with a bang, using a 3-under 68 final round to finish in a tie for eighth at the USF Intercollegiate. Santa Clara as a team had their best round of the tournament, carding a 3-over 287 on Tuesday at the Olympic Club Ocean Course to finish in eighth.

Choi, a 2021-22 All-WCC selection, had by far her best round of the tournament on Tuesday. She turned in five birdies as part of her final round and climbed 10 spots in the standings with a final tally of even par-73-72-68--213. Sophomore Borina Sutikto, coming off a sensational freshman campaign in which she led the Broncos with eight top-20 finishes, notched her ninth-career top-20 finish with a tie for 17th at 4-over 76-72-69--217. Similar to Choi, she had a big day on the links as she rolled in four birdies as part of a 2-under 69 final round. 

Freshman Audrey Brust had a consistent turnout in her first collegiate action, carding a 2-over 73 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 25th at 8-over 75-73-73--221. Lauren Shew (75-74-77--226) finished 45th while freshman Rachael Wang (76-74-77--227) tied for 46th. 

The Broncos finished the event 25-over 299-291-287--877. San Jose State won the team title at 4-under 277-297-274--848 and also had the individual medalist in Kajsa Arewjfall (11-under 66-72-64--202).
