Meet the Future of Women's Soccer: Colby Barnett

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's soccer signed Colby Barnett to a National Letter of Intent last week. Barnett hails from Los Alamitos, Calif. and attended Los Alamitos High School.

While in high school, she was a team captain as a sophomore and junior and both years won Sunset League Player of the Year after being First Team All-Sunset League as a freshman. Her sophomore and junior years she was All-CIF First Team and All-Orange County First Team in addition to being named to the TopDrawerSoccer Southern California All-Region Team. Barnett was also a USA Today High School Sports Award nominee as a junior.

Her team in high school were both CIF Southern Section Division 1 finalists and CIF State Division 1 finalists her sophomore year.

Barnett played club soccer for Strikers FC from 2017-18 and was named ECNL Southwest Player of the Year. While playing for the Strikers, she attended six U15 US National Team camps including one international camp.

From 2018-2020 she played for Blues SC and both seasons the team was in the top 25 club rankings. In 2019, they were ECNL U16 national champions. Barnett was TopDrawerSoccer ECNL National Playoffs Best XI, TopDrawerSoccer All-America First Team and on the ECNL All-Southwest Conference U16 team in 2018.

In her free time she enjoys surfing, coaching youth soccer, and spending time with friends and family.
