NCAA Third-Round Matchup With Arkansas Set for Women's Soccer

CARY, N.C. – Santa Clara women's soccer, the No. 11 seed, will take on sixth-seeded Arkansas Wednesday at 6 p.m. Pacific in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

The match will be played at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary. The Broncos are making their fourth trip to the third round in the last five seasons, and they are one of just seven teams to accomplish the feat and the only non-Power 5 program.

The Broncos took care of Ohio State 4-1 in convincing fashion Saturday in the second round in Greenville, North Carolina.

Arkansas knocked off Utah Valley, 3-1, in the second round.

All remaining matches in the tournament will be played at WakeMed Soccer Park. Tickets will not be sold to the public.

The winner of No. 3 seed UCLA and 14th-seeded Clemson, also set for Wednesday, will play either the Broncos or Razorbacks in the quarterfinals Sunday at 2 p.m. Pacific.

This will be the first meeting between Santa Clara and Arkansas.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (7-1) is led by its high-flying offense that is sixth in country with 2.9 goals per game and second with 8.8 points per match. The Broncos have outscored their opponents 23-7 with a 122-63 advantage in shots and a 69-31 edge in shots on goal.

Kelsey Turnbow has scored eight goals, at least once in all but one game, and added four assists for 20 points. She is tied for sixth nationally in goals per game and is fifth in points per game. Izzy D'Aquila has scored six times and added one assist with Skylar Smith and Kaile Halvorsen each scoring twice. Sally Menti leads the team with six assists and has found the back of the net once.

Marlee Nicolos has allowed seven goals for a 0.97 GAA while making 18 saves for a .720 save percentage. The Broncos have four shutouts on the year.

THE RAZORBACKS
Arkansas (12-3) has outscored its opponents 34-19. The Razorbacks are 11th in the nation with 2.45 goals per game and ninth with 7.3 points. They have a 229-141 lead in shots and a 123-63 edge in shots on target.

Anna Podojil leads the team with seven goals, nine assists, and 23 points. Parker Goins and Kayla McKeon have both scored six times with three assists and Ava Tankersley has scored four goals with three assists.

Taylor Beitz has allowed 12 goals in 11 games for a 1.41 GAA. She has made 33 saves for a .733 save percentage. As a team, Arkansas has two shutouts.

Arkansas is appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the seventh time, all in the last eight seasons. The Razorbacks played three regular-season spring matches after reaching the SEC Tournament title game in the fall.
