Women's Soccer Takes On No. 14 Seed Clemson With College Cup Trip on the Line

CARY, N.C. – Looking to make the College Cup for the 11th time, Santa Clara women's soccer, the No. 11 seed, faces No. 14 seeded Clemson Sunday at 2 p.m. Pacific in the national quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.

All remaining matches in the tournament will be played at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.

The Broncos, the lone non-Power 5 team left in the field, beat sixth-seeded Arkansas 2-0 in the third round on Wednesday.

Clemson advanced against No. 3 UCLA in penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw.

The winner of No. 2 seed North Carolina and seventh-seeded Texas A&M will play the Broncos or Tigers in the College Cup Thursday. Time is TBA.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 3-0 all-time against Clemson with the first meeting coming in 1996. The last meeting was a 4-2 Bronco win at the Notre Dame Classic in 2002.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (8-1) is No. 6 in the country with 2.8 goals per game and No. 4 with 8.4 points per game. The Broncos have outscored their opponents 25-7 this season while outshooting teams 133-69 and 76-34 in shots on target.

Kelsey Turnbow leads the team with eight goals and 20 points. She is eighth nationally with 2.22 points per game. Izzy D'Aquila, who has scored in each of the first two NCAA Tournament games, has seven goals and 15 points. Skylar Smith has also scored in both tournament games and has three on the year. Sally Menti leads the team with six assists and Julie Doyle has added four.

Marlee Nicolos has allowed seven goals and has a 0.85 GAA. She has made 21 saves for a .750 save percentage. Santa Clara has five shutouts on the season.


THE TIGERS
Clemson (12-4-2) is riding an eight-match unbeaten streak. The Tigers have tied both games in the NCAA Tournament 1-1 and advanced on penalty kicks. They have outscored opponents 32-13 while outshooting teams 198-158 and 90-77 in shots on goal.

Megan Bornkamp has scored a team-leading eight goals with one assist. She is tied for the team lead with 17 points with Caroline Conti who has seven goals and three assists. Maliah Morris is tied for the team lead with four assists and has six goals scored. Renee Guion also has four assists to go with two goals.

Hensley Hancuff has a 0.77 GAA after allowing nine goals. Her 46 saves give her a .836 save percentage. Clemson has six shutouts this year.
