Softball Adds Alum Ellie Fisher as Graduate Assistant

SANTA CLARA, Calif.– Santa Clara softball head coach Gina Carbonatto has added a familiar face to her coaching staff as Ellie Fisher has been hired as the volunteer assistant coach.

"I am excited about coming back to Santa Clara to coach with this staff," Fisher said. "After speaking with Coach Carbonatto, I feel that her values and style of coaching are what Santa Clara softball needs. I can't wait to get started."

Fisher's name is all over the Santa Clara record book. She is No. 2 in program history in stolen bases (75), stolen base attempts (91), and walks (64), No. 3 with a .392 on-base percentage, No. 4 in runs scored (82), tied for No. 4 in career batting average (.318), and No. 8 in hits (165).

Her 2017 season saw her finish at No. 4 in batting average (.372), OBP (.462), and hits (64) on the single season list. She also holds the second-, third-, and fourth-most steals in a single season.

"It is an honor to add a former standout Bronco to this staff," Carbonatto said. "Ellie bleeds Bronco red and white. I remember scouting her over her career because she was so challenging to keep off the bases. I am excited for her to instill her commitment to excellence in our team. We look forward to Ellie bringing familiarity to the team as well as tremendous help to our new staff."

Fisher graduated in 2018 with a degree in Psychology. She will begin her MA in Educational Psychology in January.
