SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball will play its first midweek game of the season Wednesday at 6 p.m. at San Jose State.

The Broncos picked up two wins at the Silicon Valley Classic over the weekend, their first chance to play at home this year.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (7-7) has been swinging the bats earlier in the season with a .305 team batting average and a .382 on-base percentage. The Broncos have scored 73 runs, 5.2 per game.

Sammy Needham leads the team in average (.463), OBP (.511), and slugging (.561). She has four doubles to go with 10 RBIs and 11 runs scored. Ashley Trierweiler is hitting .436 with 14 runs scored and six RBIs while hitting four doubles. Emma Bickford has a .391 batting average and leads the team with 16 RBIs and seven doubles while scoring 11 times. Eleni Spirakis has scored a team best 15 runs to go with a double, a triple, and a home run.

Hannah Edwards has appeared in seven games in the circle and made four starts with two complete games and a shutout. She leads the team with 34 1/3 innings pitched. Lauren Anderson has also started four times with a complete game, tossing 16 2/3 innings.

THE SPARTANS
San Jose State (14-2) is riding a 14-game winning streak, a program record. The Spartans are hitting .349/.450/.519 as a team with 103 runs scored and a run differential of plus-74.

Rayohna Sagapolu leads the team with a .426 batting average and has three doubles, nine RBIs, and 13 runs scored. Cassidy Clark's 15 RBIs, 17 runs scored, and seven doubled lead the team and she is hitting .367. Suzy Brookshire has hit a team leading six home runs to go with two triples, a double, 15 runs scored, and 13 RBIs.

Shannon Haddad is 8-1 with a 0.77 ERA in a team high 45 1/3 innings. She also leads the way in strikeouts (54), appearances (13), starts (5), complete games (5), shutouts (3), and saves. Ilona Sullivan has a 0.83 ERA in 25 1/3 innings and Carolina Bowman has posted an ERA of 2.52 in 16 2/3 innings.
