Softball Faces Cal Baptist Friday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball heads to Palo Alto to take on Cal Baptist Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Broncos took down Stanford 4-0 in their home opener Tuesday night.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (1-1) is led on offense by Ashley Trierweiler and her .333 batting average. She also leads the team with a .600 on-base percentage. Sarah Ellersick, Emma Bickford, Lauren LaHood, and Kat Sanchez each have knocked in a run with Trierweiler, Sanchez Kenzie Yamakoshi, and Ella Romero all having scored a run.

Regan Dias tossed a two-hit shutout against the Cardinal on Tuesday. In the game, she struck out four and walked just one. Dias has allowed five runs, all in one inning in the season opener, with four strikeouts in 11 innings and has a 1-1 record.  

THE LANCERS
Cal Baptist (4-5) is hitting .241 as a team with .322 OBP and a .373 slugging percentage. The Lancers are averaging 3.7 runs per game.

Brittany Galvez leads the team in hitting with a .393 average and doubles with five. She has also added six RBIs. Makayla Jordan is hitting .320 with four doubles, five RBIs, and five runs scored while Ashley McBay has scored a team high six runs with a double, a triple, and three RBIs and is batting .303.

Kerisa Viramontes has thrown 28.1 innings, the most on the team, and has three complete games to go with a 4.45 ERA and a 3-2 record. She has punched out a team leading 23. Giana Lopez's 3.00 ERA is the lowest on the team. She has tossed 21 innings had has two complete games and a save.
