SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball was beaten by Cal Wednesday night at home 21-4 in 5 innings.

The Bears (7-3) scored multiple runs in every inning, highlighted by 10 in the fifth.

Sona Halajian and Kennedy Thomas both had three RBIS for Cal with three others knocking in two each. In all, 12 Bears had an RBI and 14 scored a run. Five had multi-hit games with seven others picking up a hit.

Haylei Archer (3-0) dealt in the circle, allowing one run on one hit with a walk and five strikeouts.

The Broncos (2-6) scored all three of their fifth inning runs when Emma Bickford singled to left and the ball rolled by the outfielder and all the way to wall, allowing both baserunners and Bickford to come about to score.

Both Bronco hits came off the bat of Bickford who also had two RBIs and a run scored. Ashley Trierweiler got on base twice via walk and scored a run.

Regan Dias (1-5) started and took the loss in 2 innings. She allowed six runs on seven hits with a walk.

UP NEXT
The Broncos play a home-and-home with San Jose State. The teams play in San Jose Friday at 4 p.m. and Santa Clara Saturday at 1 p.m.
