Softball Falls Sunday to Pacific

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball fell behind early and the bats never got going as Pacific left the SCU Softball Stadium with a 10-0 win in 5 innings Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers (13-12, 3-3 WCC) got on the board with three in the first and added two more in the second to chase Bronco (5-14, 2-4 WCC) starter Liyah Lopez who had shutout Pacific the previous game.

Lopez (2-2) lasted 1 1/3 innings while giving up five runs on three hits with a walk to take the loss. Lauren Anderson surrendered five runs in the fourth out of the bullpen.

Madison Kahwaty and Carly Lucchetti both drove in three runs for the Tigers with Megan Wachholtz knocking in a pair. Kahwaty was 1-for-1 with a home run, three runs scored, and two hit-by-pitches with Lucchetti adding a double and two runs scored.

Myka Sutherlin (5-1) tossed 4 innings, allowing three hits and a walk with three strikeouts for her team-leading fifth win of the year.

Santa Clara's offense managed three singles, two from Sarah Ellersick and one from Kenzie Yamakoshi with Emma Bickford drawing a walk.
