Women's Soccer Beats Cal 3-0 in Spring Action

Spring Schedule

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – In the third spring game of the season, Santa Clara women's soccer beat Cal 3-0 Thursday at Stevens Stadium.

The Broncos got two goals from Natalie Kennedy and for the third time in as many games, got one goal from transfer Maria Sanchez.

"I thought our team played well, especially defensively," said Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith. "We were able to score three goals but a couple of those goals were the results of good defending. That's been our focus so I'm proud of our defensive effort. We got to play all the healthy people so it was all good things for a spring game. We're looking for the team to look a little sharper offensively in our last couple games but I'm happy for Maria that she scored for the third time in three games and for Natalie to score twice. All-in-all it was a good day."

The Broncos return to the pitch Sunday at 3 p.m. vs. Cal Poly at San Jose State.
