SANTA CLARA, Calif.—Coming off a program first WCC regular season title, Santa Clara women's tennis released its schedule for the 2013-14 season on Wednesday. The Broncos will play in the annual Cal Nike Invitational, the Saint Mary's Invitational as well as the San Jose State Hidden Dual in the preseason before the ITA Kick Off in January.
"Our schedule this year is once again set up for our strengths," said Bronco head coach Ben Cabell. "We are excited to get the opportunity to play in five tournaments before conference play begins. We have a tough slate, but it gives us a great shot to make the NCAA tournament this year."
As the team travels at the end of September to kick off the preseason with the Cal Nike Invitational in Berkeley, Calif., senior Katie Le will participate in the qualifying rounds of the 2013 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships in Los Angeles, Calif. From there, Santa Clara will play in three more preseason tournaments before the holiday break in December.
The Broncos open the regular season at home on Feb. 2, 2014 against conference opponent the University of San Francisco. They then face a series of non-conference play with highlight matches against the always-challenging Stanford Cardinal and the Fresno State Bulldogs.
West Coast Conference competition resumes on March 15 against Loyola Marymount University until April 19 with WCC newcomer, the University of the Pacific.
Bronco senior day will take place on April 12 at 11:00 a.m. in the Degheri Tennis Center against Gonzaga University.
Santa Clara travels down to San Diego, Calif. for the West Coast Conference Championships from April 23 to 27, and NCAA Regional's will begin on May 11.
