SANTA CLARA, Calif. – This weekend the Santa Clara women's tennis team competes in the San Jose State Invitational as the final tournament of the 2013 Fall season. The round-robin tournament starts with matches at 9:30 a.m. on Fri., Nov. 8 and runs through Sun., Nov. 10 with the final draws taking place on at 1:30 p.m. in San Jose, Calif.

"The team has played very hard throughout the Fall," said Bronco head coach Ben Cabell. "This is a new team and we have done a good job filling in the four spots left by the seniors last year. One of our challenges in the preseason was finding new doubles teams, and we have set ourselves up nicely for the Spring. I'm excited to get into a team format this weekend and finish on a strong note for the rest of the year."

In addition to Santa Clara, San Jose, Nevada, and University of San Francisco will all be competing in the San Jose State Invite.

On Friday, the Bronco women will begin with doubles competition against the host school San Jose State at 12:00 p.m. Following those matches, Santa Clara faces another Bay Area rival USF in singles beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Bronco senior Katie Le has had a successful Fall with an 11-3 singles record and 6-2 doubles record with partner Daniella Silva. Le, ranked No. 20 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the preseason, was the No. 1 overall seed in the Saint Mary's Invitational where she captured the championships in both singles and doubles. She also participated in the prestigious ITA All-American Championships in Los Angeles, Calif. in the beginning of October.

"We have had a busy Fall so far and are looking forward to closing out the preseason in a team format," said Le. "We have put a lot of emphasis on our conditioning and hope to get some solid wins under our belt before going into the regular season."

In addition to Le and Silva, Elaine Chesoni, Chelby Cooke, Delphine Rouvillois, Stephanie Skaras, and Nicolette Wolny all will be representing the Broncos in both singles and doubles this weekend.
