SANTA CLARA, Calif.—The Santa Clara women's tennis team continues its Fall preseason this weekend as it travels to Moraga, Calif. for a West Coast Conference rival, Saint Mary's, Fall Invitational.

"Everyone should be looking to get a win this weekend," said Canada native Danielle Silva. "It's a good tournament with a lot of solid teams, and we should all have plenty of opportunities to work hard get some wins. For me personally, I want to work on my serve and make it more consistent. As for the team, we need to compete to the last point."

The Broncos head into their second tournament with the momentum gained at the Cal Nike Invitational two weeks ago. Freshman Silva captured second place in the Gold Singles Consolation finals, doubles partners Chelby Cooke and Stephanie Skaras won the Gold Doubles Consolation final, and Silva and Katie Le made it to the semifinals of the Blue Doubles draw.

Senior Le, who was seeded No. 4 in the Cal Nike Invite, reached the Blue Division semifinal by defeating No. 6 seed Klara Fabikova of Cal in the quarterfinal. Le fell in the semis to No. 2 seed Anett Schutting of Cal. Ranked No. 20 for the preseason, Le traveled to Los Angeles, Calif. last week to participate in the qualifying rounds of the prestigious ITA All-American Championships. She advanced past the first round and was upended by UCLA player Chanelle Van Nguyen in the second qualifying round. Le carries plenty of momentum for this weekend's invitational.

Joining the Broncos this weekend at Saint Mary's will be several notable West Coast teams, including last year's NCAA champion, Stanford. Fellow Pac-12 schools Cal and Washington will also compete this week, and Fresno State, San Francisco, Loyola Marymount, Pacific, Cal Poly, Gonzaga, UC Davis, Sacramento State and Portland will also have players with them in the field.

Action begins in Moraga on Friday morning and continues all day on Friday and Saturday. Finals are scheduled for Sunday. Check back to the tournament website and SantaClaraBroncos.com daily this weekend for updated draws, results and match times.
