No. 64 Women's Tennis Edges University of San Francisco, 4-3

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The No. 64 Santa Clara women's tennis team earned its fourth win of the dual season with a 4-3 victory over University of San Francisco on Tuesday. A strong team effort lifted the Broncos to 4-3 on the season and they started West Coast Conference play with a win. They will take on UC Davis on Sat., Mar. 1 at 11 a.m. in the Degheri Tennis Center.

Santa Clara got on the board early by winning the doubles point and it picked up enough singles matches to defeat the Dons. The Broncos started off strong with an 8-3 victory from partners Chelby Cooke and Delphine Rouvillois at No. 2. The Santa Clara duo of Stephanie Skaras and Nicollete Wolny clinched the doubles point with an 8-4 win in the third position.

After USF grabbed the first two singles matches at No. 2 and No. 6, Katie Le, ranked No. 25 nationally, evened up the contest by beating her opponent 6-3, 6-1. The Dons would go on to win the fourth singles match, however, taking a 3-2 lead.

With their backs against the wall, the Broncos dug deep. Skaras pulled out her mtach 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5, giving Rouvillois a chance to be the hero. She delivered with a 7-5, 6-2 victory, sending the Broncos to an exciting win. Rouvillois notched her fourth straight win and she improved her overall singles record to 5-2 for the dual season.
