Women's Tennis: Friday Results of San Jose State Invitational

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara women's tennis team completed the first day of the San Jose State Invitational on Friday with singles matches against University of San Francisco and doubles compeition versus San Jose State. The second day continues Saturday as the Broncos take on Nevada in doubles at 11:00 a.m. and San Jose State in singles beginning at 12:30 p.m.

In singles, senior Elaine Chesoni defeated Lindsay Warren of San Francisco in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Sophomore Delphine Rouvillois battled through a tough three-set match after dropping the first set to Marina Nikolic of the Dons, 4-6. Rouvillois came back strong taking the second-set, 7-5, and finishing the match 4-6, 7-5, 1-0(5).

In doubles, all three Bronco teams fell to the host school. Katie Le and Daniella Silva were edged out by Gaelle Rey and Sabi Leon-Chao in a tight match ending in the Spartans favor, 8-7(6). Santa Clara partners Chelby Cooke and Rouvillois could not top Julianna Bacelar and Justin Deleval and fell 8-5. In the third match, Bronco duo Nikki Wolny and Stephanie Skaras fell in another close match, 8-7(4), to Brooke Irish and Mil Hadzi-Tanovic.
