SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara women's tennis team gets back into the swing of West Coast Conference competition with a road-match against No. 58 Brigham Young University on Fri., April 4 at 11 a.m. in Provo, Utah. Live scoring will be available on the BYU Athletics website, BYUCougars.com.

Santa Clara boasts a 7-7 overall dual record after its non-conference loss to UC Irvine on Mar. 26. The Broncos are 3-2 at home, 2-4 on the road and 2-1 on neutral surfaces. The team is 2-2 in the WCC this spring season with wins over San Francisco and Loyola Marymount.

The Broncos look to snap a three-match losing streak when they face BYU on Friday. The squad is coming off of a 0-3 Spring Break road trip where Santa Clara fell to conference opponents then-No. 36 Pepperdine and San Diego and finally nonconference competitor UC Irvine.

Over the break, No. 20 Katie Le upset then-No. 19 Lorraine Guillermo of Pepperdine, 7-5, 6-4, in a WCC showdown on the Mission campus. Le went 3-0 last week in singles.

Le moved up eight spots in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings on Mar. 25 to stand as the No. 20 player in the country. Extending her winning streak to 10 with her most recent win at UC Irvine, the senior has not lost a match since Feb. 14 and has not dropped a set since Feb. 22. The Milpitas, Calif. native posts an impressive 11-1 record in her final dual season at Santa Clara.

Brigham Young University

The No. 58 Cougars (8-7, 4-1 WCC) fell 5-2 last weekend to No. 40 Pepperdine in a battle for first place. Pepperdine gave BYU its first loss in league, placing them second in the WCC standings. Before the Waves, the Cougars were perfect in WCC play with wins over Loyola Marymount, Pacific and San Francisco.

Notably, BYU upset then-No. 38 Saint Mary's in Provo, Utah on Mar. 22 by a match score of 5-2. It was the first time since 2007 that the Cougars knocked off a top-40 team and the first win over Saint Mary's all-time.

Last Year Against the Cougars

The Cougars aim to get their first-ever win against the Broncos in the WCC on Friday. Santa Clara owns the head-to-head record 2-0.

On Mar. 23, 2013, Santa Clara topped BYU in the Degheri Tennis Center by a score of 5-2. The Broncos captured the doubles point early on and converted the necessary singles victories on courts 1, 3, 4 and 5.
