Qualifying Singles Draw

SANTA CLARA, Calif.—For the third consecutive year, Bronco senior No. 20 Katie Le will travel to Los Angeles, Calif. to compete in the 2013 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships. Seeded No. 2 overall in the qualifying singles tournament, Le will face Stephanie Nauta of Virginia in the opening match on Tues., Oct. 1 at 12:30 p.m.

"It is a great honor for a Santa Clara player to be participating in this tournament at this level," said Bronco head coach Ben Cabell. "Like I have said before, Katie deserves it all as one of the best players in the country this year. She is going to be competing in these national championships all year long."

The qualifying rounds are also comprised of a singles draw of 64. A singles player must win three consecutive matches to stay alive and move into the main draw that will take place Oct. 3-6 at the Riviera Tennis Club. Eight spots in the singles main draw are reserved for qualifiers.

In addition, singles semifinalists and consolation champions will receive automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships Nov. 7-10 in Flushing, N.Y.

Last year at this tournament, Le was seeded No. 13 and fell in her opening qualifying match to Julia Elbaba of Virginia, 6-4, 6-0. This year, Le is ranked No. 20 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and is seeded No. 2 in the qualifying tournament.

In this year's qualifying draw, only one player—Zoe Scandalis of USC—is seeded above Le. In addition in the West Coast Conference, Saint Mary's rival Jenny Julien is seeded at No. 3 and Lorraine Guillermo of Pepperdine sits as the No. 7 seed.
