SANTA CLARA, Calif.—After the successful Saint Mary's Invitational this past weekend, the Santa Clara women's tennis team is slated to compete in the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships in Palo Alto, Calif. this weekend, from Fri., Oct. 18 until Tues., Oct. 22 on the Stanford campus.

"So far, I have been very pleased with our fall preseason," said Bronco head coach Ben Cabell. "Katie and Daniella are top seeds this weekend, and we are looking forward to keeping our momentum going."

Playing in her fourth tournament this fall, senior Katie Le is seeded No. 5 overall in the singles draw and No. 6 in the overall doubles draw with partner Daniella Silva. In singles, Le has an automatic bye in the first round and will face the winner of Claire Jaramishian of UC Davis versus Megan Govi of Portland State in the round of 64. Le captured the singles championship of Saint Mary's Invite last weekend.

In doubles, sixth-seeded Silva and Le have a bye into the round of 32 on Sat., Oct. 19. They will play the winner of Megan Heneghan and Melissa Kobayakawa of UC Davis versus Caroline Doyle and Krista Hardebeck of Stanford. Silva and Le won the top doubles draw in the Saint Mary's Invite in Moraga, Calif. last weekend.

In addition to Le and Silva, Elaine Chesoni, Chelby Cooke, Delphine Rouvillois, Stephanie Skaras, and Nicolette Wolny will all be representing the Broncos in both singles and doubles this weekend.

"After two great weekends, we are looking forward to battling against more top schools in Northern California," said sophomore Rouvillois. "We have been practicing very hard these last few days especially on our fitness in order to perform at our top level in long matches. We want to show the opposing teams that Santa Clara is well-prepared for the upcoming spring season."

In addition to Santa Clara, the ITA's Northwest Region schools are comprised of the following: California, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Oregon, Pacific, Portland, Portland State, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, San Francisco, San Jose State, Santa Clara, UC Davis, Washington and Washington State.
