Santa Clara Women's Tennis Signs Madison Clarke To a National Letter of Intent

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara head women's tennis coach Ben Cabell announced the signing of Madison Clarke to a National Letter of Intent on Thursday, Nov. 13.

"I'm thrilled to welcome Madison to our team and school," said Bronco head coach Cabell. "I really enjoyed getting to know her in the recruiting process. Madison has the great combination of academics and tennis success that we look for at Santa Clara. She is going to be a great Bronco."

A senior at Xavier College Prep. in Phoenix, Ariz., Clarke is ranked No. 30 in the nation by Tennis Recruiting Network. She has a southwest regional ranking of No. 7 and is the No. 1 player in Arizona. Coached by Laurie Martin, Clarke tallies an overall record of 26-16 and was an All-American in 2014. She won the New Balance High School Tennis Championships in Cambridge, Mass. on July 24, 2014, defeating the No. 5 seed by a score of 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the final. A two-time Player of the Year in her home state, Clarke went on to win her second consecutive state championship in 2014. Outside of tennis, Clarke is a member of the Christian Life Club and the Spanish Club. She has First and Second honors in academics as well. At Santa Clara, she plans to study Biology in hopes of becoming a Marine Biologist.

"Santa Clara is an all around perfect fit for my desires," said Clarke. "I love California and the environment of Santa Clara with its small class sizes. When I saw the campus, I knew that I wanted to go here."
