Women's Tennis Defeated by Wichita State

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara women's tennis team dropped its match to the Wichita State Shockers 7-0 at home on Feb. 19.  The Broncos are 2-3 on the season.

"We've had a tough early schedule," said head coach Ben Cabell.  In its most recent matches, Santa Clara has faced the formidable opponents of San Jose State, Fresno State and Wichita State.  "We're disappointed in the results from this match but we are using the experience to make us better."

The Shockers started off the match by edging Santa Clara at the No. 2 and 3 doubles spots and winning the doubles point.

The teams played out the match, but Wichita State kept momentum going as they defeated the Broncos in singles play.

This weekend the Broncos head south to Santa Barbara to play Oregon on Feb. 21 and UC Santa Barbara on Feb. 22.
