Women's Tennis Falls to Oregon, Plays Santa Barbara on Sunday

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara women's tennis team dropped its first match of the weekend to Oregon, falling 7-0.  Rebounding quickly, Santa Clara will host the Santa Barbara Gauchos on Sun., Feb. 22 at 11 a.m.

"We're disappointed by the results today, but we're taking on challenges to get better," said Bronco head coach Ben Cabell.

In doubles, the No. 1 pair of Chelby Cooke and Daniella Silva trailed Nia Rose and Alyssa Tobita in a tight 6-5 match before Oregon clinched the doubles point.

Riley Morgan made her singles debut for the Broncos against the Ducks, but fell to Kadie Hueffner. "We're proud she played in her first match for us," added Cabell.

Nabila Farah pushed Nia Rose to tiebreak in the first set of their singles matchup, but eventually fell in the concluding match of the day.

"We're still working.  We're getting more experience and we're continuing to improve," finished Cabell.
