SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The Santa Clara women's water polo team continues its traveling streak this weekend.

The Broncos (2-1) face Cal St. East Bay on Saturday at noon at Pioneer Pool.

"Cal State East Bay is a solid team, and playing at their pool always presents a good challenge," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "The dimensions of their pool are different from most pools, so we need to prepare not just for the team but for a different playing environment."

The Broncos prepare for the face off against the Pioneers (1-0) by working on their active defense, offensive spacing and counter attacks, and the utilization of the shot clock.

Wilbur notices areas in last weekend's 14-11 win against Cal St. Monterey Bay where the team could hone certain skills.

"The main area for improvement from this past weekend is being consistent throughout the game and having good composure," said Wilbur. "When we followed our game plan, we were doing well.  However, when a couple breaks did not go our way, we started forcing passes and shots, and that is when we went through a tough stretch. We need to stay patient on offense and create a good opportunity on every possession."

NOTES
