Santa Clara lost at No. 2 Stanford on Friday and fell to San Jose State at home on Saturday.
"We're excited to head into conference play," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "We have played a strong nonconference schedule, and our team has been getting better each week."
Santa Clara has been preparing for conference play by focusing on its man-down attacks.
"We are focusing a lot on on our 6-on-5 offense," said Wilbur. "We've been doing a good job of earning ejections in recent weeks, and if we do better converting our 6-on-5 opportunities, that will really add to our offense."
Last weekend, the Broncos drew a total of 20 kickouts: seven against Stanford and 12 against San Jose State. They only converted one time against the Spartans.
Hannah Buck led the team in drawn exclusions against San Jose State, tallying five. In the game against Stanford, Emma Allegrucci and Buck each drew two. Buck is first on the team in kickouts drawn (34), and Allegrucci is second (20).
Buck and Hailey Eberle are tied for the team lead with 23 goals, and Annie Eldredge has a team-high 24 assists. Lydia Dadd has started all but one game in net for the Broncos.
