SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The Santa Clara women's water polo team travels to San Diego for the two-day Triton Invitational.
The Broncos (2-2) will play four games this weekend, starting on Saturday with an 8 a.m. matchup against No. 3 UCLA (10-0).
"We are excited to play in the Triton tournament," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "It is our first road trip outside Northern California this season, and UCSD is a great venue to play. It will be fun to compete in a high level tournament."
The tournament is filled with 16 teams, with the majority ranked in the top 20. The event will be held at Canyonview Aquatic Center in La Jolla, California.
This is the first weekend of the season where the Broncos will play four games in two days.
"As a team, you gain a lot of experience in single weekend," said Wilbur. "Also, we will go deeper off our bench than usual, so it will be a great opportunity for players to see pressure situations. I think our team will really come together and continue to grow from this experience."
Santa Clara has been using the week in the pool to hone their defensive technique.
"Defense has been a focus for us this week in practice," said Wilbur. "We really want everybody on the same page with positioning, technique, effort, and defensive schemes."
None of the games will be streamed and live stats only available in the event the Broncos
