Women’s Water Polo Claims First League Win

IRVINE, Calif.Hannah Buck and Lauren Paxton each scored twice, and Annie Eldredge dished out three assists to help lead Santa Clara women's water polo to a 9-4 over Concordia on Friday.

The Broncos (7-12, 1-2) earned their first Golden Coast Conference victory of the season with a strong second quarter when they scored four times.

Paxton scored a pair in the period and Eldredge's goal with 2 minutes left increased to lead to 6-2.

Dailynn Santoro posted two goals for the Eagles (10-7, 0-2) who were held to only one conversion in their eight power play attempts.

Santoro scored on a penalty shot with 21 seconds left in the second quarter, but Emma Allegrucci and Maggie Oys answered with goals in the third quarter for the Broncos who led 9-3 following Buck's strike 26 seconds into the final frame. 

Lydia Dadd earned the win in net by posting six saves.

The Broncos earned a split in their two-game road trip after falling to San Diego State, 4-1, on Thursday.

The Broncos play four of their final five regular season games at home, beginning with Thursday's matchup against Cal State East Bay.
