Women's Golf Tied for Eighth After 36 Holes at The Gold Rush

SEAL BEACH, Calif. - Lauren Shew carded a 10-over-par 154 (81-73) and Emily Sumner shot a 12-over 156 (74-82) on Monday to lead Santa Clara women's golf to a tie for eighth after 36 holes at The Gold Rush.

Shew is tied for 19th and Sumner is tied for 31st at the two-day, 11-team event at Old Ranch Country Club that concludes on Tuesday. Sumner, making her season debut in the team's second event, slipped from a tie for ninth place with her second round score.

Sarah Busey is one shot back of Sumner in a tie for 33rd with rounds of 79-78 for the Broncos who are at 49-over 625 (312-313). 

USC, ranked 21st in the latest Golfstat ranking, leads the field at 4-over 580 (290-290).

Naomi Wong is at 14-over 158 (78-80) and sits alone in 36th place. Marie Jordaan shot 22-over 166 (84-82) to round out the Santa Clara team.

Playing as an individual in her first collegiate event, Olivia Venderby is tied for 53rd with a 23-over total of 167 (86-81).
