SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Claire Choi of Santa Clara women's golf is gearing up for her appearance in the U.S. Women's Open.
When Choi tees it up in Thursday's opening round at The Olympic Club, she will make school history.
"I'm so excited for Claire," head coach Krystal Kelly said. "Qualifying for a major championship is incredible. Claire is our first Bronco to qualify for a major. She has worked so hard on her game and now she'll be able to compete with the best in the world. This experience will be something she will remember for a lifetime."
Choi, a junior, advanced by winning her sectional qualifier last month in Hawai'i.
She will tee off at 9:27 a.m. in Thursday's opening round and 2:42 p.m. in Friday's second round.
"I can't wait to watch her tee it up," Kelly said. "My best advice to her is just to embrace this opportunity and enjoy every minute of it."
