Women's Golf Finishes 11th at Gunrock Invitational

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Santa Clara women's golf was unable to make a move on the leaderboard during Tuesday's final round of the Gunrock Invitational.

The Broncos finished 11th in the two-day tournament with a score of 44-over-par 908 (309-295-304). They were unable to make up ground after Monday's second-round 295.

Sarah Busey was 40th at 8-over 224. After shooting 78 in the opening 18 holes, she closed with 73 in each of the final two rounds.

Emily Sumner tied for 45th with an 11-over total of 227 (78-74-75) and Lauren Shew was one shot back of her in 48th place with rounds of 76-74-78.

Naomi Wong ended the tournament in tie for 49th at 13-over 229 (77-74-78).

Marie Jordaan, playing as an individual, carded a 16-over 232 (75-80-77) and Olivia Venderby had rounds of 84-78-78 with her 240 total tying for 64th.

"We will continue to work on ball striking and hitting fairways," Santa Clara head coach Krystal Kelly said. "If we can improve our play in the fairways and hitting greens in regulation we will see more sub-300 rounds. Consistency will be key for this season.
