Women's Completes Opening Day of WCC Championship

HENDERSON, Nev. - Santa Clara women's golf is in fifth place at the West Coast Conference Championship after Thursday's opening 18 holes.

Emily Sumner is in a tie for 10th to lead the Broncos who carded a 28-over 316. Sumner shot a 4-over 76 at Reflections Bay Golf Club.

Allysha Mae Mateo of Brigham Young is at 2-under atop the individual leaderboard. The Cougars lead the way at 5-over 293.

Lauren Shew shot a 7-over 79 and is tied for 18th and Sarah Busey one shot back of her in a tie for 20th.

Rounding the Santa Clara lineup were Naomi Wong and Marie Jordaan. Wong shot an 81 (24th) and Jordan carded an 82 (25th).
