Capital Classic Up Next for Softball

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – A trip to play in the Capital Classic, which is being played at UC Davis and Sacramento State, is up next for Santa Clara softball. The Broncos will play Rider at 9:30 a.m. and UC Davis at noon on the UC Davis campus Friday. They will play Rider at 9:30 a.m. and Sacramento State at noon on the Sacramento State campus Saturday. Sunday they will play Marist at 12:30 p.m. at Sacramento State.

In the first midweek game of the year, Santa Clara fell to Bucknell 8-4 Tuesday evening at San Jose State.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (4-13) is hitting .242 as a team with 19 doubles, four triples, and three home runs while scoring 50 runs.

Sammy Needham leads the team with a .435 batting average and eight doubles. She also leads the team with a .527 on-base percentage and a .652 slugging percentage. Regan Dias is hitting .386 with a .509 OBP and a team-high nine RBIs while scoring 11 runs. Eleni Spirakis' 12 runs scored are the most on the team and she is batting .321 with five doubles, a triple, and a home run.

Lauren Anderson has thrown a team-leading 48 1/3 innings in 12 games, including nine starts, with two complete games and a save. Dias also has two complete games in five starts and has come out of the bullpen three times for 33 innings. Lauren Schiek has pitched in 10 games covering 18 innings and Aubree Kim has tossed 15 1/3 innings.

THE BRONCS
Rider (0-12) has been outscored 97-9 on the season. The Broncos are batting .147 as a team with seven doubles and a home run. They have a 9.48 team ERA with 30 strikeouts in 65 innings.

THE AGGIES
UC Davis (18-4) has outscored its opponents 122-59. The Aggies are batting .299 as a team with 23 doubles, eight triples, and 17 home runs. In the circle, they have a 2.45 ERA with 131 strikeouts in 146 innings.

THE KNIGHTS
Fairleigh Dickinson (5-12) has been outscored 75-39 this season. The Knights hit .196 as a team with 13 doubles and two triples. They have a team ERA 5.67 with 64 strikeouts in 108 innings.

THE HORNETS
Sacramento State (11-10) has outscored its opponents 97-85. The Hornets are hitting .262 as a team with 24 doubles, four triples, and 18 home runs. They have posted a 3.30 team ERA with 89 strikeouts in 138 innings.

THE RED FOXES
Marist (5-6) has been outscored on the year 50-45. The Red Foxes are hitting .274 with 21 doubles, two triples, and four doubles. They have a 3.38 ERA with 60 strikeouts in 74 2/3 innings.
