Barnard Named West Coast Conference Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – After going 6-for-9 and helping lead Santa Clara softball to a three-game road sweep of San Diego, Kelsie Barnard was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week Monday.

The Bronco senior hit .667 with a .700 on-base percentage and a .778 slugging percentage while adding three runs scored, three RBIs, a double, and two stolen bases.

She opened the series with a 3-for-3 game with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored in a 6-2 Santa Clara victory. In game two of the doubleheader, Barnard stayed hot, picking up two more hits and scoring a run in a 11-3 win in six innings.

She concluded the weekend Sunday in a 7-3 victory with another hit and an RBI.

Barnard is hitting .318 on the season, third on the team, with five doubles, a home run, 17 RBIs and 13 runs scored to go with five stolen bases and a .378 OBP.

The Broncos wrap-up the regular season with a doubleheader Friday and one game Saturday against BYU. Saturday will be Senior Day with a pregame ceremony for Barnard, Morgan Modesto, and Jordan Dawkins. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
