Softball Hosts Cal Wednesday in Final Midweek Contest

SANTA CALRA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball hosts its final nonconference game of the season Wednesday as Cal visits the Mission campus at 6 p.m.

The Broncos took a series over the weekend against Pacific with a split Saturday and a rubber match victory Sunday.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (12-31) is hitting .264 as a team with a .347 on-base percentage. The Broncos have scored 146 runs with 55 doubles, seven triples, and six home runs.

Eleni Spirakis leads the team with a .352 batting average, a .421 OBP, 32 runs scored, and two home runs while also adding 11 doubles and 11 RBIs. Sammy Needham has hit a team-high 13 doubles to go with 18 RBIs and a .307 average. Hannah Russell's 24 RBIs lead the team and she is hitting .294. Regan Dias is batting .282 with a .409 OBP thanks to a team-high 23 walks and she also leads with 11 steals in 12 attempts.

Dias has thrown a team-high 101 innings in 23 games and 18 starts with five complete games. Lauren Anderson has appeared in 26 games and made 17 starts with four complete games covering 95 1/3 innings with Lauren Schiek tossing 53 1/3 innings in 25 games with all but one coming out of the bullpen.

THE GOLDEN BEARS
Cal (26-25) has outscored its opponents 242-184 on the year and is hitting .285 with 53 doubles, 12 triples, and 29 home runs to go with a 2.79 ERA.

Lindsay Rood has a team-best .403 batting average and also leads the Bears with 46 runs scored, 16 doubles, and 29 steals without being caught. Mikayla Coelho's seven home runs lead the team and she has added 26 RBIs and 31 runs scored. Makena Smith leads Cal with 30 RBIs to go with 26 runs scored and a .301 average.

Kamalani Dung has appeared in 32 games and made 18 starts with 12 complete games and six shutouts. In 140 2/3 innings, Dung has struck out 139. Zoe Conley has also pitched in 32 games and leads the team with 22 starts and 145 1/3 innings while tossing 10 complete games and two shutouts.

Gates to the Santa Clara Softball Stadium, as well as its ticket booth, are open one hour prior to the start of the game.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to first pitch. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive. During the weekend, campus parking facilities are free (except for permit required locations). Note that parking in the Leavey Center lot is limited due to construction on the adjacent Stephen C. and Patricia A. Schott Athletic Excellence Center.
