FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Broncos lost to Northern Arizona's Lumberjacks 7-0 last Wednesday afternoon in their third match of the season. Stephanie Galainena and Lindsay McBride pushed their matches to three sets in singles but were unable to pull out a win in the end.
The Lumberjacks swept the Broncos in doubles matches. At No. 1, Galainena and Ashley Pane were topped by Leslie Vial and Kim Van Ginkel 8-4. Samantha Georgino and Carmen Pham were outplayed by Orsi Golovics and Edit Suhajda 8-1. Finally, at No 3, McBride and Myra Davoudi came close to a win, but fell 8-7 to Stacey Pinchbeck and Stephanie Vallejos.
In singles, Galainena won her first set 6-2 before falling in the next two 6-1, 6-1 to Golovics. At No. 2, Davoudi lost to Suhajda in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. McBride put in a great effort at No. 3, following a close first set of 7-5 with a comeback in the second set, 6-2. She lost in the third set 10-3 to Vallejos. Freshmen Pham, Pane and Courtney Hull rounded out the singles matches, losing in straight sets.
