The Santa Clara women's tennis team will host the final two matches of the regular season in the coming week. On Saturday, April 12 the women will take on WCC rival University of San Francisco and on Monday, April 14 the SCU Broncos will face the Texas Pan-American Broncs for Senior Day.
Last weekend, SCU was on the road in Washington going head to head against tough opponents, including the No. 41 Washington State Cougars. Stiff competition and difficult weather conditions got the best of the Broncos against WSU, Idaho, and Gonzaga. These next two matches, though, are shaping up to be good ones, as they will close out the regular season for the Broncos and will be Myra Davoudi and Lindsay McBride's final matches at the Degheri Tennis Center.
Scouting the San Francisco Dons
The Dons are currently 5-9 on the season and are coming off of weekend losses to No. 37 Saint Mary's and No. 42 Sacramento State. Against Saint Mary's, USF's No. 66 nationally ranked Jennifer-Lee Heinser extender her unbeaten streak to 13, which was snapped in her match against Sacramento State's No. 45 ranked Katrina Zheltova.
Scouting the Texas Pan-American Broncs
The UTPA Broncs are currently 14-7 this season. The team fell 4-3 in their last match against nationally ranked Lamar University. Sophomores Luisa Cantu and Stephanie Willerding and Senior Silke Buksik earned the Lady Broncs' 3 points in tough singles victories. Buksik has been having a successful senior season this year and is one of the Broncs' biggest threats.
First serve on Saturday against USF is set for 10 AM. First serve for Monday's Senior Day against UTPA is set for 1 PM.
