SANTA CLARA, Calif.-Pacific defeated Santa Clara 5-2 Saturday in their home match at the Degheri Tennis Center. Myra Davoudi and Carmen Pham earned the team's two points. Pham and Courtney Hull also came away with a win in doubles for the Broncos.
In singles action, Myra Davoudi defeated Olga Gumenyuk of Pacific 6-4, 6-2 playing in the No. 3 position. Carmen Pham played another great match, defeating Kateryna Nezhura 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4.
A few women Broncos played close matches, but finally fell. At No. 1, Lindsay McBride fell 7-5, 7-5 to Jolanta Twarowska. Ashley Pane came back after dropping her first set, but finally fell in three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 to Clara Schumacher at No. 5. Rounding up the singles matches, Courtney Hull fell 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 6 against Pacific's Sasha Fischer.
In doubles, Pham and Hull won their match at No. 3 8-3 against Nezhura and Schuhmacher of Pacific. However, the Broncos dropped the other two matches and did not earn the doubles point.
