Box Score

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Despite Loyola Marymount's weekend sweep at Gonzaga, the Santa Clara baseball team remained in a tie for the West Coast Conference's Coast Division title with a 9-6 loss at San Francisco on Sunday.

The Lions took a 6-4 win at Gonzaga on Sunday, providing an opportunity for the Broncos to take the divisional title outright. However, Santa Clara stranded 13 runners on base Sunday and were unable to overcome San Francisco's five-run first inning. San Francisco won its first series against Santa Clara in two seasons with the 2-1 mark over the weekend at Benedetti Diamond.

Santa Clara ends the regular season with a 23-33 overall record and 17-13 WCC mark. San Francisco falls to 28-26, 14-16. Freshman Kellan McConnell (4-2) took the loss for Santa Clara, while Jeremy Kinney (2-4) earned the win for USF.

Gonzaga earned the right to face West Division champion Pepperdine in the league's championship series next weekend by virtue of its 4-2 record against the Broncos this season. The Bulldogs won two of three games in each of the two series against the two teams, at Spokane as well as at Buck Shaw Stadium.
