Annie Freman Helps Women's Golf Wrap Impressive Fall Season

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – The Santa Clara women's golf team placed 3rd as a team over the weekend at Cal Poly's Lady Mustang Invitational at Cypress Ridge Golf Club. SCU's preseason All-West Coast Conference honoree Annie Freman was just 3-over par during the two-round event to finish as tournament runner-up.

The event wraps up a very successful fall campaign for Santa Clara. The Broncos won its Colby Invitational on Oct. 23rd with senior Ashley Noda as the medalist. Noda's senior classmate Monique Riley set a new program single-event scoring record at -7 at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate Oct. 11th.

"It's been a great fall season," says fifth-year SCU head coach Krystal Kelly. "We need to work on a few things for the spring, but overall we have played well. Really looking forward to seeing what this team can accomplish this spring."

Conditions were challenging at Cypress Ridge Sunday during the final round of the 36-hole, 11-team tournament. Freman, a junior from Las Vegas, Nev., opened the event with an even-par 72, then posted a 75 to challenge for title and tie for 2nd.
