SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Looking to continue its run of successful team and individual results, the Santa Clara women's golf team is back on the links Monday competing in the 15-team Sacramento State Invitational. The two-day event will be competed at the 6,008-yard, par-72 Sierra View Country Club in Roseville, Calif.
Santa Clara, at No. 99, is one of the higher ranked teams in the tournament, according to the recent Golfstat.com poll. The field also contains 53rd-ranked San Francisco, No. 91 Cal Poly and No. 92 Nevada.
Teams and individuals will play 36 holes on Monday followed by a single 18-hole final round on Tuesday.
The Broncos have three team titles this season and have finished in the top four in eight of their nine events in 2015-16. Additionally, three Broncos have claimed individual medalist honors.
All three medalists will be competing as part of Santa Clara's five-player team. Junior Annie Freman scored an 18- and 36-hole program record to claim the Fresno State Classic title two weeks ago in the team's last event. She fired a first round 5-under 67 and finished at 8-under 136 for her fourth career title.
Sophomore Kristin Le won her first collegiate title last month, taking medalist honors at the Battle at the Rock with a 4-over 220. Both Le and Freman have played every event this season.
Senior Ashley Noda, who captured the Santa Clara Colby Invitational in October, will also be competing, along with freshman Cynthia Navis and sophomore Isabella Salant.
First round action starts at 7:45 a.m. PDT with players teeing off from the first and 10th holes. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.com.
