SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer announced its 2021 schedule featuring nine home matches and against three schools that qualified for the 2020 NCAA tournament.
The Broncos play a total of 16 regular season matches, kicking off with the season opener at home against Cal Poly on Aug. 27 after playing a total of just eight games during the COVID impacted campaign last spring.
Following another home match on Aug. 29 against Sacramento State, the Broncos hit the road for the first of seven away matches.
Santa Clara will head to the nation's capital to face a pair of 2020 NCAA tournament qualifiers in American University (Sept. 3) and Georgetown (Sept. 6).
A match at UC San Diego (Sept. 10) marks the third-straight road game before hosting Houston Baptist (Sept. 17) and Dixie State (Sept. 19).
The Broncos play a road contest against Cal State Fullerton (Sept. 24) to close out the September slate.
The West Coast Conference schedule starts off against San Francisco (Oct. 2) in the first of four straight Saturday games at Steven Stadium at Buck Shaw Field. Games against Pacific (Oct. 9), Cal (Oct. 16) and San Diego (Oct. 23) follow.
A midweek match against cross-town rival Saint Mary's (Oct 27) marks the first WCC contest on the road, followed by another away game at Gonzaga (Oct. 30).
In November, the Broncos hosts Portland (Nov. 6) in the home finale before concluding the regular season on the road at defending WCC champion LMU (Nov. 13).
Santa Clara plays three exhibition matches beginning with a home match against Menlo College (Aug. 16), followed by road games at UC Davis (Aug. 17) and at Stanford (Aug. 21) prior to the Aug. 27 regular season opener.
SCU closed out last season on a strong note with three-straight wins, all on shutouts, and won four of the last five matches to finish above .500 in conference action and 4-4 overall.
