STANFORD, Calif. - In the final tune up match to the regular season, Santa Clara men's soccer battled to a scoreless draw against Stanford on Saturday night at Cagan Stadium.

Neither the Broncos nor the Cardinal found the back of the net in 90 minutes of exhibition match action with Stanford holding a 9-3 edge in shots.  Of those shots, Santa Clara had two of the more dangerous opportunities with a pair of rocket shots in the first half.

In the 19th minute, Javier Ruiz Duran's shot from just outside the 18 went directly into the hands of goalkeeper Eliot Jones in what turned out to be the lone shot on frame for the Broncos.

Just before intermission, Alejandro Barajas' blast from 30 yards out was deflected by a Cardinal defender and sailed over the goal post.

Coming out of intermission, both teams switched out their goalkeepers when Ruben Stuiver came in for starter Andreu Cases Mundet for SCU and Kyle Orciuch subbed in for Eliot Jones for Stanford.

Stanford tried to turn up the pressure with a pair of shot on goals in the 68th minute by Ousseni Bouda and Carlo Agostinelli but both were easily handled by Stuiver.

Aiden Weaver nearly scored the go ahead goal for the Cardinal in the 89th minute but Stuiver made his third save of the match.

The Cardinal had four shots on goal compared to one for the Broncos and also had an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.

In three exhibition matches, the Broncos finished with a win and a pair of draws and will now turn their eyes to Friday's regular season opener against Cal Poly.
