Men’s Soccer and UC Davis Draw 1-1 in Tuesday’s Exhibition Match

DAVIS, Calif. - Taking part in the second exhibition match in as many days, Santa Clara men's soccer played to a 1-all draw against UC Davis on Tuesday at Aggie Soccer Field.

Both goals came in the first half in an 80 minute match comprised of two 40 minute halves.

Javier Ruiz Duran got the Broncos on the board first in the 15th minute when he successfully converted a penalty kick.

Kaleb Schirmacher leveled the match for the Aggies just four minutes later heading in the ball off a corner kick by Robert Mejia to beat Broncos goalkeeper Andreu Cases Mundet.

Neither team scored for the remaining 61 minutes of action which saw the Broncos utilize 20 players compared to 18 for the Aggies. 

Statistically, the match was fairly even with each team firing off five shots, finding one on frame.  Santa Clara held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.  

NEXT:
The Broncos play their third and final exhibition match on the road against Stanford on Saturday.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
