KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Santa Clara men's soccer players Javier Ruiz Duran, Oladayo Thomas and Damani Osei were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region teams. The United Soccer Coaches announced on Tuesday.
Ruiz Duran and Thomas earned first team honors while Osei was named second team. The trio are the 25th, 26th and 27th Broncos overall to be named to the United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) All-West Region team.
Ruiz Duran is just the second Santa Clara player ever to be named All-West Region three times after Ryan Cochrane who was a third teamer in 2001 followed by a pair of first team recognitions in 2002 and 2003. Ruiz Duran was named third team in 2018 and 2019.
The graduate student midfielder from Barcelona, Spain led the West Coast Conference with 10 assists and tied for fourth in points with 16 and was named first team All-WCC for the third-straight year.
Thomas was also a first team All-WCC selection this fall after leading the WCC in points (26) and goals (nine) while finishing second in assists (eight). This is the first All-West Region honor for the senior forward from Lagos, Nigeria.
Osei, a junior defender from Richmond, Virginia played in all 18 games, starting in 17 of them. He logged 1,618 minutes of action to lead the team and was a central figure in limiting the opposition to score just 0.94 goals per game en route to a second round appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
