SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's soccer team officially opened training for the 2021 season at Stanton Field on Tuesday.
Head coach Cam Rast begins his 20th year leading the Broncos program that returns 20 players and welcomes nine newcomers.
Among the returners are four All-West Coast Conference performers from the spring season – first team selection Javier Ruiz Duran along with honorable mention selections Alejandro Barajas, Caden Buckley and Oladayo Thomas.
The Broncos return all of its goal scorers from a year ago led by Thomas with four.
Santa Clara will ramp up its training until the preseason opener against Menlo on Aug. 16 at Stevens Stadium. The regular season opener is on Aug. 27 against Cal Poly at home.
