Women's Golfer Set for U.S. Amateur Championship

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Sarah Busey of Santa Clara women's golf will look continue her successful summer in this week's U.S. Amateur Championship.

Busey, who is heading into her junior season, qualified for the U.S. Amateur by firing a 1-under-par 71 at The Preserve at Oak Meadows in Addison, Illinois, in July to finish tied for fourth at sectional qualifying.

As one of the top five finishers at sectionals, Busey punched her ticket to the 119th edition of the event, which is being held at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi.

Stroke play begins Monday with Busey set to tee off at 7:55 a.m. Central. After 36 holes of stroke play, the top 64 advance to five days of match play.

Making her first appearance at the U.S. Amateur, Busey has been on fire this summer.

In June, she defended her Wisconsin State Golf Association Match Play title and last month won the Wisconsin State Amateur Championship.
