PORTLAND, Ore. – Junior Sarah Busey was the Broncos top finisher for the second time this season and for the fifth time in the last six events dating back to last season as Santa Clara women's golf completed play at the Molly Collegiate Invitational in 11th place with a 948 team total.
"We are in a development phase right now trying to get some different players more experience," head coach Krystal Kelly said.
Busey, a preseason All-WCC pick, matched her second-round score with a final-round 75 to grab a share of 36th with a 232 total.
Sophomore Claire Choi and senior Marni Murez both finished with a 239 total to tie for 53rd.
Isabella Seeburger (80-78-82) completed 54 holes at 240 while sophomore Duong Tran (82-81-82) ended at 245.
"Normally our putting is really good, but we were challenged by the greens and unfortunately didnt make as many putts as we would have liked," Kelly noted.
Stanford was the top team in a strong field and dominated both the team and individual leaderboards. The Cardinal took the team title by 26 strokes over Oregon and claimed the top three slots on the player side.
After competing in three tournaments in a four-week span the Broncos will take a small break before finishing their fall season at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, an event they won last year behind top-10s from Busey and Emily Sumner. The two-day event begins on Monday, October 14, at the Tacoma Country Club.
"We have a week and a half before our next tournament," Kelly concluded. "It will be interesting to see who makes the lineup."
