SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's golf is back in action Monday when the Broncos open their four-tournament fall season at the 17-team Hobble Creek Fall Classic. The two-day, 54-hole event will be contested on the 6,135-yard, par-71 Hobble Creek Golf Course in Springville, Utah.

Head coach Krystal Kelly has an experienced roster returning for the 2019-20 season led by junior Sarah Busey, who had a strong showing at the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship over the summer.

Busey enjoyed a stellar campaign with the Broncos last season topping the squad with a 73.43 stroke average and six top-10 finishes while playing in all 10 events. The Racine, Wisc. native capped her season with a fourth-place finish at the WCC Championships in April.

Joining Busey on the five-player team at the first event of the season are seniors Marni Murez and Isabella Seeburger, along with sophomores Claire Choi and Duong Tran.

Choi had a strong rookie season with a 74.80 average while competing in every event. Murez played nine tournaments last season with Tran pegging it up in five tournaments. Seeburger took part in a pair of events during the 2018-19 season.

"It's great to have our entire team return for this season," Kelly said. "Unfortunately, we will be without Emily Summer who is in rehab protocol due to an injury. We are hoping to get her back soon, maybe toward the end of our fall season. However I'm confident the team will play well in her absence. This will be a good opportunity for our team to step up, especially those players who maybe haven't seen the lineup as much as others."

Utah Valley University will host the Hobble Creek Fall Classic with teams from Boise State, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Cal Baptist, Hawai'i, Incarnate Word, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Portland State, Sam Houston State, Southern Utah, UT Rio Grande Valley, Weber State and Wyoming scheduled to compete.

"This should be a very competitive field," Kelly noted about the competition. "My message to my team this week is be present, be mindful, and enjoy the ride. The team has been working hard over summer playing a variety of tournaments and working on their games. We will jump right back into our process and get to work. I will also rely on our veterans to carry us through the fall season. Ultimately it takes every single player to be successful."

Teams and individuals will play 36 holes of golf on Monday with tee times from the first and 10th holes beginning at 6:30 a.m. PT. Live scoring is available by clicking here.
