SAN FRANCISCO – Senior Daniella Silva of Santa Clara women's tennis advanced to the singles semifinal round on Friday at the University of San Francisco's Battle in the Bay Classic. Fellow senior Nabila Farah also advanced to the semifinal in the singles consolation bracket.

After upsetting the No. 4 seed on Thursday, Silva continued her strong play with a comfortable victory over Joselyn M. Treyes Albarracin (San Francisco) 6-4, 6-1. Silva will square off against No. 1 seed Lauren Marker (Arizona) in the semifinal round on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. PT.

"It was a great day in singles for both Dani (Silva) and Nabila (Farah)," head coach Ben Cabell said. "I'm very proud of Dani, she continued her tournament with a very strong performance today. She finished off last year well and is picking up right where she left off. She's turning into one of the top players in the conference, which is great to see."

Farah battled her way to the semifinal round of the consolation bracket, defeating Cristina Saenz de Buruaga (Pacific) 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (8). Farah will face Isabella Von Ebbe (UC Davis) in the round of four on Saturday at 2 p.m. PT.

"I'm also very proud of Nabila for coming back after dropping the first set," Cabell said. "That's a good win for her, beating a very good player from Pacific."

The duo also competed in the opening round of the women's doubles tournament on Friday morning but came up short against the No. 1 seeded duo from Arizona, Paris Corley and Marker, 8-4.

"It was a tough draw in doubles playing the No. 1 seed in the first round," Cabell said. "Hopefully they (Farah and Silva) can take some good things from that match and apply it to upcoming matches."
