SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara Men's golf will kick off its spring season in Tucson at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate. The first and second rounds will be played on Monday with the final round concluding the tournament on Tuesday.

This will be Santa Clara's first of eight tournaments in a packed spring season that will end with play at the WCC Championship which will be held in Bremerton, Wash. The Broncos displayed their strengths over the course of their four tournament fall season placing T3rd, 10th, T7th, and 5th, respectively.

The 15-team field of the Arizona Thunderbirds Invitational features Santa Clara, host-Arizona, Cal Poly, Long Beach State, Seattle U, Brigham Young, Central Michigan, New Mexico, Saint Mary's, Texas A&M, Cal, Iowa State, New Mexico State, SMU, and West Virginia.

Santa Clara's lineup will feature Viraj Garewal, Nolan Forsman, Julien Paltrinieri, Eugenio Bernardi, and Calder Overfelt.

Graduate student Viraj Garewal leads the team with a 71.75 stroke average after four events with fellow Graduate student Julien Paltrinieri not far behind with an average of 71.89 after three events.

The Broncos are averaging 73.13 strokes per round as a team.

The pair of Freshmen Eugenio Bernardi and Calder Overfelt will be making their return after a fall season where they played a combined seven events, with both of them seeing low rounds in the 60s.
